Differences

	TIMESTAMP	DATETIME
Size	4 bytes	8 bytes
UTC Conversion	Yes, all dates being submitted are converted to UTC before being saved. The conversion is based on the system timezone or on the MySQL timezone if it it set in configuration	No conversion takes place in any situation. The DATETIME type has nothing to do with timezones.
Range	1970 to 2037 only	1000 to 9999
